Smells of the Philippines (this one's for you dad)

I'll try to keep this one as a laundry list as I discover more.
1. campfire smell
This comes from trash piles burning everywhere. You might think it would smell really bad but so far it just smells like a campfire to me.
2. Barbeque
Because of the heat there's a lot of outdoor cooking.
3. Doesn't smell like Tijuana
The smell in Mexico is still a clear memory to me even though I haven't been there in 7 years and I'm impressed with how much cleaner Filipino people, even those who live in abject poverty.
4. The musky smell of serious humidity (and sometimes some mildew)

It is so neat to hear about the little details of daily life in the Philippines! It definitely reminds me of the time I spent in Nicaragua... there were some interesting quirks there, too. For example, the popular method of transit in Managua are old school buses from the U.S. It was a different experience because the streets are lined with yellow (you could even see this as we landed in the airport). Anyway! Thanks for your diligence to write consistently--we are praying for you and appreciate the updates. :)

Dear Caleb and Leah:

We are praying for you and your girls. We will remind the believers at Faith (in our services tomorrow) to uphold you before the Father.

Warmly in Christ,
